Acoustic guitar headplates are placed by the head board or machine heads areas and they have a similar function to the fingerboard. In many cases, headplates and fingerboards share the same material as it’s important that the density of the wood and the headplate be high due to the wear that it’s produced.

Many luthiers use the head board area to use a headplate with a different aesthetic that provides an exotic touch to the guitar neck. Depending on guitarists preferences, the holes of the headplates have one or another measure, but they always have enough space to the chords to be perfectly tense.
