BOTANICAL NAME: Dalbergia spruceana.

COMMERCIAL NAMES: Amazon Rosewood

ORIGIN: Brazil.

DESCRIPTION: It is a dark brown wood with a density of 1100 kg/m3. Its sapwood has a light-yellow color and its heartwood has a brown orange or reddish color with traces or dark veins. The grain is medium and uniform.

SUGGESTIONS: It is a hard wood to work because of its density. It is necessary to be careful when gluing like in most Rosewoods. It has a good finish, achieving a natural shine with sanding.

DRYING: Due to its density, it has a slow drying speed and it presents a breakage risk.

USES: It is used in fingerboards, sounboards and xylophones.
