Want the midrange punch and unique attack of a P90, but have a guitar equipped with humbuckers? You need a humbucker-sized P90 Phat Cat. The Phat Cat is a true single-coil P90 pickup mounted under a humbucker cover for use in guitars equipped with this type of pickup. Originally developed by Seymour Duncan in his custom shop for Hamer guitars, the demand for this pickup was so great that it was incorporated into regular production.

Phat Cats give you all the authentic grain and roar you'd expect from a P90 Soapbar in the bridge position, and real sparkle in the neck position. Chords have bright, ringing overtones, while solos have the classic cut and edge of a P90. Dual Alnico 2-bar magnets are used for more sustain and compressed attack, while metal covers provide more shielding and noise reduction than standard plastic covers.

Other details include an alpaca base plate, single-conductor braided connecting cable, and vacuum wax encapsulation for squeal-free operation and no unwanted feedback. The neck model is RW/RP for quiet performance when paired with the bridge pickup. Phat Cat P90 humbucker pickups are hand built in Santa Barbara, California.
