Aged Curly Maple Electric Bass Neck (700x100x25mm)
Why use aged wood?
Aged wood has a vintage look, widely used in the manufacture of "relic" guitars. It is a trend that originated in the United States and is based on replicating in a new guitar the wear and tear caused by use and the passage of time. For this reason, the aged maple neck is currently one of the favorite options.
Maple neck aging process:
The aging process of the maple neck is made from wood dried by a water extraction process in vacuum dryers.
The wood is aged by treatment with ammonia gas.
This gas penetrates the entire wood and a chemical reaction takes place between the ammonia gas and tannic acid in the wood structure. The result is a stable, uniform and permanent color throughout the piece.
Maple wood characteristics:
Maple wood is characterized as a hard, durable wood that provides a bright, crisp tone to the bass.
In other words, it helps to make the sound of the bass less dull and deep, giving it more clarity and volume. For this reason, most electric bass guitar necks are made of maple.
What is the function of the neck inside the bass?
The neck is the longest part of the bass and one of the most important parts of the instrument, not only because of the number of parts it holds, but also because of the sound and grip, since depending on its construction characteristics it affects in one way or another the general tone of the bass.
