The viola necks that we offer at Maderas Barber are made of maple wood of different qualities, maple is also the most used wood to make the instrument’s soundboard due to its sound and visual capabilities. Since almost its invention, maple has been the preferred wood for luthiers. Its flamed grain and its ease to work it manually have made it a favorite wood for all viola makers.
The necks also require great resistance due to the tension produced by the strings, and that resistance is offered by maple wood. Choose between our special, first or second quality, according to your needs.
