Sides

The violin sides are pieces of maple that are part of the soundboard, giving the silhouette to the instrument, these pieces are a fundamental part of the transmission of sound as they are responsible along with the backs to reflect the lower sounds produced by the violin.

The soundboard has an oval shape with lateral C-shaped side cutouts, the sides have to be worked very carefully to mold them perfectly and achieve perfect symmetry on both sides.

The most used wood in the manufacture of these instruments is the curly maple since its flamed grain has been very coveted by luthiers and musicians, it is a wood that besides its great beauty has optimal acoustic properties to transmit a perfect sound.

In Maderas Barber we have sides in blocks of 12 mm of thickness of which are obtained the different leaves that form the set of sides
