BOTANIC NAME: Diospyros crassiflora hiern.
COMMON NAMES: Exotic African Ebony, Exotic Black Ebony, Royal Ebony.
ORIGIN: Central and Western Africa.
DESCRIPTION: The Exotic Ebony is the same species than the Black Ebony. It sometimes shows a combination of its grains and white figures in the heartwood but not in the sapwood. Although the latter can also be used. This black wood has a good finished and few pores. The Exotic Ebony wood is ideal for lathe (For example for dishes, salad bowls, bowls ...). It is fragile to the weather conditions.
