Resonance Frequency (Hz):Â Number of vibrations per second. Each piece has a resonance frequency that characterizes its tone.
Sustain (Q Factor):Â How long a piece will keep on ringing after being hit.
Acoustic Radiation Coefficient: How much energy is necessary to excite a piece in vibrations. The lower the amount of energy, the higher the coefficient
Maderas Barber's new Red Cedar tops have undergone a rigorous sound analysis that will allow you to choose the one that best suits your needs based on its sound properties. This analysis has been carried out individually for each top.
When you choose a Top for your guitar, you are choosing the sound of your instrument. That's why we have created a sound catalogue where you can appreciate the acoustic beauty of each piece.
General Description of the Red Cedar Top MB Exclusive:
Red Cedar soundboards originate from Canada. These pieces for classical, flamenco or western (dreadnought) guitars are tops with slowly growing rings from the centre to the ends, with minimal variation between them, cut at 90º or with tiny variation, uniform colour throughout, and normally free of defects or if it has any it will not affect its structure or its acoustic properties.Â
These are Top Grade tops, with that acoustic depth and the characteristic reddish tone of cedar. This wood entered the lutherie workshop a few decades after spruce. However, this has not been a problem to position itself as the preferred choice for luthiers around the world when building their high-end guitars.
