Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) is one of the most stable and versatile woods for guitar making. Its balanced density, reliable behaviour and warm, defined response have made it a benchmark in lutherie workshops all over the world. This pack contains 20 back sets graded A/B, an international classification that groups pieces with natural variations in colour, density and grain pattern. Because of the inherent heterogeneity of this grade, alongside simpler pieces you may find sets of AA and even AAA quality, always as part of the natural variability of the batch and without any individual selection. Although these dimensions match the format commonly used for acoustic guitar backs, they do not limit their use. They can be used for different acoustic guitar designs, classical guitars and other stringed instruments that fit within these measurements. The stability of Indian Rosewood and its behaviour at thin thicknesses make it a versatile material for many types of construction. About this pack
Frequently asked questions
Are all the sets in the pack the same?
No. A/B grade shows natural variability: colour, grain pattern and density can differ between pieces. Occasionally, there may also be AA or AAA sets, as a result of this heterogeneity.
Can I choose specific pieces?
No. The packs arrive sealed from origin, exactly as they are classified at source. It is not possible to choose individual sets, but the variability lets you decide later in your workshop which pieces to use for each instrument.
Are these suitable for high-end instruments?
Some sets in the pack may have features suitable for high-end instruments, although this cannot be guaranteed within the A/B grade.
Is it a good idea to buy more than one pack?
If you build on a regular basis, yes: having your own stock is key in view of the increasing scarcity of this wood.
