U Shape Carbon Fiber Acoustic/Classical Neck Reinforcement
Overview U Shape Carbon Fiber Acoustic/Classical Neck Reinforcement:
The trend toward thinner sections in the guitar neck has made some additional reinforcement a necessity. The first attempts to make the neck more stable was by gluing two or more pieces of wood together. Then metal bars, square tubes and U-profiles and combinations of these were used. Following this evolution, new technical materials appeared and also found their way into instrument making.
Now carbon fiber rods find their place in lutherie. Light in weight, stiff enough to do the job, the necks can be thinner, remain rigid and stable, which is important for tuning stability, vibration transfer, attack, while maintaining comfort when playing.
Carbon fiber is available in many variations and the thickness of the fibers, along with the stiffness of the fibers and the resins used to bind the fibers together, has an influence on the finished rod.
