Royal Blackwood Electric Guitar Fretboard
Overview Royal Blackwood Electric Guitar Fretboard:
Though ebony is still the most sought after wood for guitar fretboards, we suggest you try a Royal Blackwood Electric Guitar Fretboard.
Royal Blackwood is an excellent alternative to ebony. It is a variety of Purple Heart or Amaranth (Peltogyne catingae) which, through a process that involves alternating heat and air renewal, removes the antioxidant oils and accelerates the oxidation process until it reaches the inner core of the wood pieces. This hydrothermal process accelerates the aging process by changing the natural color and improves the strength, mechanical and acoustic properties of the wood. Of course, this wood does not contain any chemical additives or artificial pigmentation. Once the process is finished, we additionally achieve a moisture content of around 8%.
It is glued, planed and worked exactly as well as it would have been before the process. The density is midway between Indian Rosewood and ebony. It comes from sustainable forests with abundant supply and is priced much lower than ebony.
All Royal Blackwood pieces are delivered sanded on both sides, an added bonus.
