At Maderas Barber we want to pay tribute to wood on World Wood Day. This event has been celebrated every March 21 since 2013, also coinciding with the International Day of Forests. It is a moment to reflect on the importance of wood in our lives and in the environment, as well as to promote its sustainable use.

In this sense, it is important to highlight the role played by the Worl Wood Day Foundation, a non-profit organization based in California (USA), which is responsible for managing the funds to organize the event and promote the culture of wood and its sustainable use. At Maderas Barber, we share their commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment.

Innovating for sustainability: recycled paper as a substitute for bubble wrap

Wood is a noble and warm material that adds a cozy and elegant touch to any space. In addition, its use in the construction of musical instruments highlights its importance as a fundamental element in the creation of sounds and melodies. In our catalog, we offer a wide variety of sustainable and FSC-certified woods, which guarantees that they come from forests managed in a responsible and environmentally friendly way. Likewise, for a wood to be FSC certified, all companies involved in the chain of custody must also be certified, ensuring traceability and transparency throughout the process.

Similarly, in our effort to make the company more sustainable, we have incorporated a machine that uses recycled paper as a substitute for bubble wrap in shipments. In this way, our products still arrive in perfect condition, but in a more sustainable way, eliminating plastics as much as possible. The brown accordion-folded paper we use is made from recycled and responsibly sourced content, and can be recycled with mixed paper. In addition, the fiber is 100% renewable and all production waste is recycled.

Along the same lines, we have changed all our cardboard packaging to FSC-certified boxes, which are more sustainable and environmentally friendly. These boxes are responsibly produced and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, which means they meet the highest sustainability standards.

Our bags are also recycled and reusable, which means we further reduce the amount of plastic we use in our company.

Committed to the European Union's Green Deal: fighting global deforestation and forest degradation

As a company committed to sustainability, we are closely following the new Green Deal law adopted by the European Union to combat global deforestation and forest degradation driven by EU production and consumption. The implementation of this law, which will come into force in 2024, will ensure that goods traded in the EU do not contribute to deforestation and forest degradation in the EU and other parts of the world, which will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss. As a leader in the timber industry, we are committed to following these regulations and promoting sustainable practices throughout the timber supply chain.
