Brazilian Rosewood

BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD

Dalbergia nigra, the queen of Rosewoods and one of the most sought after woods by luthiers and craftsmen around the world. It is a wood native to the Atlantic coast of Brazil, also known as Bahia Rosewood because of the Brazilian region where it usually grows. Its exceptional sound qualities and beauty have captivated for decades the best builders and brands, who have used Brazilian Rosewood in their most exclusive models. Its brown color ranges from a beautiful light tone to a practically black tone, with beautiful dark streaks here and there, depending on the piece.

Brazilian Rosewood has been used by the great names of the classical guitar for its incredible sound properties. Masters such as Romanillos, Hauser, Fleta and many others have worked with this wood and have had the highest regard for it. More common during the middle decades of the past century, its scarce availability has caused that, nowadays, only the best luthiers can use it for their high-end instruments. Our Unique Sets will allow you to add your name to the select list of makers who have worked with it.
