BOTANIC NAME: Cupressus sempervirens.

COMMON NAMES: Cypress, Mediterranean Cypress, Italian Cypress

ORIGIN: Eastern Mediterranean region.

DESCRIPTION: The cypress wood has a leafy grain very different from others. The annual rings combine open mesh soft spring wood with fine grain hard summer wood. Strong and light, very resistant and naturally resistant to decomposition. This wood also called Baldcypress is soft, easy to sand and finish both in lathe as carving or engraving. It is very used in pyrography.
