Martin Guitars will make a Custom Shop series using Maderas Barber's Dalbergia Nigra!
Hello Luthiers! Today we have some exciting news to share with you. Martin Guitars will build a Custom Shop series with our treasured Dalbergia nigra (Brazilian Rosewood).
We have recently had the opportunity to meet and interview Mike Dickinson, representative of Martin Guitars. During the interview, Mike highlighted the unique quality of our woods and Martin Guitars' commitment to sustainability.
Mike shared his experience at Martin&Co as a wood selector and guitar building methods. He also highlighted the importance of having sustainable wood sources.
Brazilian Rosewood, also known as Dalbergia nigra, is a wood that is highly prized for its beauty and exceptional tonal quality. Nowadays, obtaining Brazilian Rosewood is complicated due to the rigorous CITES regulations. At Maderas Barber, we have a limited stock of this wood that comes from legal and sustainable sources.
If you are a luthier, you know that Martin Guitars Custom Shop series with our Dalbergia nigra will be a jewel. You can also hold in your hands the same woods that industry benchmarks use to create masterpieces. It's time to unleash your full creative potential.
MARTIN GUITAR HISTORY
The Martin Guitar brand, or C.F. Martin & Company, is one of the oldest and most prestigious guitar manufacturing companies in the world. Its history dates back to the 19th century.
The company was founded by Christian Frederick Martin in 1833 in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, USA. Martin, a German immigrant, learned the art of stringed instrument making from his father in his homeland. From that time on, he began to build guitars.
Over the years, Martin Guitar has been a pioneer of numerous innovations in guitar construction. In the 1850s, they introduced "X-Bracing", a bracing pattern that improves resonance in acoustic guitars.
Martin guitars quickly became famous. In the 20th century, artists such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, John Frusciante and Eric Clapton, among others, chose to play with Martin guitars. The brand became a symbol of quality and authenticity in folk, blues and country music.
At Maderas Barber, we are proud to be part of this exceptional project and to offer the highest quality woods, ensuring sustainability at every stage of the process.
