New Research and Product Development Space for Luthiers
At Maderas Barber, we embrace innovation as a strategy for the growth of the handmade guitar market and the development of products for luthiers. We advocate for the craftsmanship of both the seasoned masters of lutherie and the young hands that are already making their mark in the history of the guitar. Simultaneously, as a leading company in the sector, we commit to serving the luthier community by offering new products of higher quality at a lower price.
In this context, we have decided to make a new investment in the production area to establish a Research and Development (R&D) workshop.
What is the role of an R&D workshop?
This workshop is a crucial part of our company's production process because it provides a space for experimenting with new ideas, techniques, and materials that will form the basis of new finished parts, templates, accessories, and tools designed to enhance the quality of the luthier's work. Ricardo Lira, the coordinator of the research and development area at Maderas Barber, is the best person to explain this.
How can specialized accessories enhance the luthier's experience?
The R&D workshop will help us progress toward one of our goals: developing a line of specialized accessories designed to make the building experience more comfortable and efficient. From ergonomic tools that reduce fatigue to accessories that simplify specific tasks, our aim is to assist luthiers in developing their personal brand by optimizing time and investment.
How can our finished pieces enhance a luthier's productivity?
These pieces address the complex issue of standardization in handmade production processes, allowing for greater precision at higher speeds. Finished parts also enable increased production without the need for significant investment in large machinery, which can be cumbersome and require soundproofing and complex ventilation systems at times.
In summary, they make you more competitive in a constantly developing market. Our finished pieces eliminate the need for long hours of preparation, enabling luthiers to manage their work time more efficiently.
Redefining Standards with High-Precision Finished Parts
We have based the designs of our pieces on the plans of the great masters of lutherie, adding the precision of CNC cutting and excellent wood as raw material. The result: a quality piece to fuel your creativity as a guitar builder.
As of this post, our catalog includes over 120 products in the "Finished Parts" category. These include bodies for electric guitars (Stratocaster and Telecaster) and electric bass (Jazz Bass). Fingerboards for classical, acoustic, and electric guitars, as well as for bowed strings such as violin, viola, and cello. Designs of necks for classical and acoustic guitars with different scales, headstock designs, and wood combinations. The finished necks category also includes options for lute and mandolin. Concurrently, we have developed the category of bridges for classical, flamenco, acoustic, mandolin, and lute guitars.
