Bois de Rose
This precious and valuable wood comes all the way from Madagascar. Bois de Rose wood belongs to the Dalbergia genus and is an exotic wood prized for its impressive look and acoustic characteristics.
In this category, you can find classical guitar bridges made of Bois de Rose.
Bois de Rose wood (Dalbergia Maritima) is a very hard and resistant wood. Its fine grain makes it perfect for building musical instruments, including guitar backs and wind instruments.
The heartwood is vibrant magenta or red-violet, sometimes with darker purple-black lines. Its overall color tends to darken with age, evolving to a deep purple that is almost black.
Origin of Bois de Rose
Bois de Rose is a very exclusive and highly demanded wood due to its low commercialization after export cease.
Our Dalbergia Maritima stock comes from a unique opportunity to buy an old stock located in the European Union.
This wood is listed in Appendix II of CITES under the restriction that affects most Dalbergia species.
At Maderas Barber, we are committed to nature and that is why it is essential for us to ensure that the wood comes from sustainable and legal sources and that it has been processed in a way that respects the environment, biodiversity and the regeneration capacity of forests.
