Best woods for Estopa's new guitars

A few months ago, Guitarras Bros visited Maderas Barber in search of the best woods for the new guitars of Estopa, the group formed by the Muñoz brothers in 1999.

Receiving them always turns into a gathering of old friends, where we share ideas and experiences, as well as a commitment to offer the best pieces to our customers.

The members of this brand, with a long family history in guitar building, maintain the inherited tradition of craftsmanship in each of their instruments.

What type of wood they use to build the new guitars

We walk through our aisles to find the type of wood they want to use in Estopa's new guitars. These will be studio guitars, for recording new tracks, so they're looking for very powerful woods to take advantage of the nuances of sound.

Woods to define the sound

The woods we choose for each part of the guitar help us define the sound. Factors such as the origin or species of the tree are determinants of the result.

For the tops, they choose Spruce and Cedar, fine-textured wood with highly valued sonic qualities.

For the backs, exotic woods like Malaysian Blackwood or Padauk Bariolé, highly sought after for their unusual aesthetics.

And for the headplates, Ebony, a resistant wood with high density.

It's a meticulous selection process, touching and observing each piece with an expert eye to detect what makes a wood perfect for a guitar.

But we don't stop at appearance or feel. Once we've chosen the highest quality woods, we perform a sound analysis that changes the game.

MB Sound, technology at the service of music

With MB Sound, technology is put at the service of music. Resonance frequencies, sustain times, tonal response... everything is documented and quantified, redefining what can be expected from wood in an instrument.

MB Sound woods undergo a sound analysis process that reveals technical aspects that were previously left to intuition. The results of this test provide us with a detailed sound map of each piece.

Good vibrations and measurable values

Estopa's guitars, built with these tops that blend quality and innovation, are a perfect example of how traditional craftsmanship can benefit from modern technology. Good vibrations and measurable values ensure that the band's characteristic warm and powerful sound is guaranteed with the selection of these woods.

Choose the perfect woods with Maderas Barber

The choice of wood is fundamental in the construction of a guitar, as it largely determines the sound of the instrument.
