Resonance Frequency (Hz):Â Number of vibrations per second. Each piece has a resonance frequency that characterizes its tone.
Sustain (Q Factor):Â How long a piece will keep on ringing after being hit.
Acoustic Radiation Coefficient: How much energy is necessary to excite a piece in vibrations. The lower the amount of energy, the higher the coefficient

General Description Torrefied Adirondack Top MB Exclusive:
Adirondack Torrefied spruce or red spruce (Picea Rubens) is a wood that grows near the northern Atlantic coast of America. From Nova Scotia to North Carolina, it gets its name from the mountain range where it commonly grows. They are majestic trees, some of them centuries old.Â
The Adirondack Torrefied spruce has achieved mythical status among makers as the tree used in most pre-war instruments. These guitars, especially those of the Martin and Gibson brands, have defined the ideal guitar sound for decades to come. It is this combination of sonic qualities and association with legendary instruments that makes Adirondack Torrefied spruce one of the most sought-after woods for acoustic tops. Think of the instruments of people like Neil Young, David Crosby, Tony Rice... Adirondack Torrefied is present in all of them.Â
What is torrefaction?Â
Torrefaction is a thermochemical process that reduces the moisture content of the wood, as well as removing other impurities. This process can reduce the mass of the wood by 20-30%, resulting in a denser product.
Applied to instrument tops, it produces stiffer but also lighter pieces. As if that were not enough, it gives the wood a spectacular golden appearance, more typical of vintage instruments. Everything is an advantage with roasting.
