Clavijeros Aparicio: WhenMachine heads becomes art
Aparicio is Maderas Barber's new offer in handmade machine heads for guitars. A product born and developed entirely in the Spanish industry for luthiers looking to give a touch of exclusivity and design to their instruments.
Their factory is located in Móstoles, where Felix and Yolanda carry out this handmade production process. From their design, all the models make reference to Spanish cities.
In these designs we can find three types of finishes: Satin, Bronze and Black on a first quality brass bar.
The guitar machine heads knobs generate different aesthetic combinations with their possibilities in Black Ebony, resin or metal. In addition, these models employ a Delrin wheel at the end of the post, ensuring smooth rotation in the machine heads. This part, normally found only on high-end machine heads, reduces friction and avoids tuning problems.
The gear rims and screws are also made from solid brass bars, with a turning ratio of 1:17 or 1:18 depending on the model.
The Maderas Barber team visited the factory to learn about the process. Felix showed us step by step the construction of these machine heads that combine the precision of automation technologies with the authenticity and exclusivity of hand finishing and polishing. Each Aparicio machine heads has the distinction of a unique piece, far from the appearance of a mass-produced product. Their designs are innovative and totally different from what we are used to find in the market.
Innovation and development
One of the highlights of the Aparicio brand is its permanent intention to innovate and develop its products, without losing the handcrafted aesthetics that represent them.
Felix and Yolanda are currently working on new types of finishes, incorporating copper painting, silver finishes and 24k gold plating. Another special mention goes to the leather-like finish, made with a paint that achieves a surprising imitation of the textures of this material. This variety of finishes seeks to expand the horizons of design when creating your next guitar.
There is also innovation in the mechanics, in search of greater precision and less wear and tear when tuning. In this sense, the incorporation of steel ball bearings is planned.
In this way, Aparicio positions itself as a reference of development in the Spanish machine heads industry. Aparicio is committed to bringing to the luthier's workbench a reliable and unique product that seeks constant feedback from the makers to meet all the needs of the luthier and the guitarist.
These machine heads can be offered at a highly competitive price thanks to the joint effort and logistical advantages implied by the coordination of two Spanish companies such as Maderas Barber and Aparicio.
These tuning pegs, used by prestigious builders, are only available for sale at Maderas Barber and in limited quantities.
