Difference between Alnico types:

Alnico II: has a lower output and a warmer, more characteristic sound, with a low end, smooth, singing treble. Many builders use Alnico II magnets in solid body bridge pickups for a vintage tone.

Alnico III: is the weakest magnet, but produces a sparkling high end and a sweet but tight low end.

Alnico V: produces a bright tone with tight bass and punchy treble. They are ideal for the neck position because they help keep the tone clear without muddying it.
