Description of the French Polish 500ml Chestnut

This French Polish is a traditional mixture of solvent (methyl alcohol) and high quality shellac, very similar in color to Button Polish. It can be applied over bare wood or over a shellac sealer, and builds up in many layers as thin as the thickness of a cigarette paper.

French Polish provides the rich amber sheen found on classic instruments and requires a very specific application technique that is time consuming and laborious, but the result is incredible, and the satisfaction of achieving it is its own reward.

The French Polish finish is not very resistant so it is recommended for instruments that are either going to be cared for, or when a quick aging and the achievement of a certain "vintage" aesthetic is expected.
