The Gibson Olive Drab color became popular thanks to the Gibson ES-335 of Soundgarden founder Chris Cornell, who passed away in 2017.

The name “olive drab” refers to its brownish-green appearance. Gibson first used this color on some SG models in the mid-60s and brought it back in 2013 for the highly exclusive Chris Cornell ES-335 Signature.

Today, Gibson, Epiphone, and Fender frequently use this color on both budget-friendly models and custom shop editions.

Over the last decade, Nitorlack has become one of the leaders in nitrocellulose lacquers, accurately replicating most of the exclusive colors of the major guitar brands. Nitorlack products are used by countless builders around the world, both professionals and amateurs.
