The name Ocean Turquoise Metallic was first used by Ford on the Mustang in 1962. Fender later adopted it in the 1960s for the Telecaster, Stratocaster, and Jaguar models.

This blue-green metallic finish naturally shifts towards a greener hue over time due to the yellowing of aging nitrocellulose.

Often paired with tortoise pickguards and rosewood fretboards, it is a striking and characterful color.
