Overview Gibson and Gretsch style F Hole Routing Template:

With the Gibson and Gretsch style F Hole Routing Template you will be able to cut the f holes of the archtop models of both manufacturers. Made out of transparent 5mm plexiglass, the template has a marked center line for easy centering of the piece.

Use a shallow router bit or better, a Dremel or similar. Place the template well centered on the piece to work and secure it with double-sided tape. Check that the template is firm and does not wobble or move.

Always start routing from the center: this prevents possible errors on the borders, which are the most delicate part, and we can get a better idea of whether the working speed is adequate. It is better to work slowly and remove the material in several passes. This minimizes the risk of chipping the edges of the hole.

Don't get close to the edges of the holes until you can rest the router bearing or the non-cutting part with the edge of the template. This way the edges will be perfectly defined.
