In the making and restoration of bowed string instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and double basses, this oil is used as a base for oil varnishes, a carrier for natural resins (copal, amber, elemi…), and as a wood treatment to improve resilience, elasticity, and acoustic response. It penetrates deep into the wood fibers, stabilizes the surface, and enhances the visual depth of the varnish.
