  The half-round gouges have more curvature than the flat or semi-flat ones, but no so much as the bowl gouges. Half-round gouges are called this way not only for being slightly curved, but for reaching a semi-circumference. They're commonly used, but its purpose is not only to give a thick form to the wood, they also allow some curved cuts like the ones created in cloth cuts.The initation version has a shorter size, making costs cheaper and use easier, but also making its durability shorter.
  The Pfeil D series gouges have a lower length from the rest of the Pfeil gouges, both the handle and the steel blade have a lower length from the professional gouges. Its lower size makes them specially designed for initiation in wood carving and small hand people.
  However, production and material quality are the same as the professional gouges.
