Pax Fine Blade Precision Saw Thomas Flinn

The Pax Fine Blade Precision Saw is a tool designed for the most delicate cuts in the workshop. Made in Sheffield by Thomas Flinn & Co, a company with over a century of history making quality saws, its blade of just 0.010" thick and 40 teeth per inch make it the finest saw in the Pax range — and one of the finest available anywhere.

In lutherie, this saw is intended for high-accuracy cuts in small areas: starting and defining nut slots in bone, ultra-precise cuts on small-format parts, or any operation where minimum kerf and a clean finish are essential. The blade has no set — no lateral tooth opening — which virtually eliminates any trace of the cut on the material, producing a near-mirror finish. The mirror-polished brass back provides the rigidity needed to keep the blade straight despite its extreme thinness.

Walnut handle with brass ferrule for a secure, balanced grip even on the most controlled cuts. The blade can be resharpened with a fine file when needed.

Technical Specifications

  • Blade length: 150 mm (6")
  • Teeth per inch (TPI): 40
  • Blade thickness: 0.010" (0.25 mm)
  • Set: no set
  • Back: mirror-polished brass
  • Handle: walnut with brass ferrule
  • Resharpenable: yes
