Use of the Hosco TL-FFLD23 file

Once the frets have been set and radiused and the sides have been beveled we will proceed to leveling and crowning. The Hosco TL-FFLD23 file is a more than capable tool for this task. With the diamond plated side we can finish leveling the frets while with the curved edges we can shape them at the tips. Its 600 diamond grit has a high abrasive power while at the same time being able to work the metal without leaving deep marks.

It has two crowning radiuses: R2 for Medium size frets, between 2mm and 2.4mm (.080″ and .095″) and R3 for Jumbo frets from 2.54mm to 2.8mm (0.100" and 0.110") with which we will round the tips. Then we can finish shaping them with the fret file and polishing rubbers, or the sandpaper of our choice.
