NOMS COMMERCIAUX : Bocote, Bucote, Cordia, Barcino, Cueramo.

Origine : Mexique.

DESCRIPTION : Bois rouge-brun-orange d'une densité de 950-1200kg/m3. Il s'agit d'un bois de dureté intermédiaire et de texture uniforme. Il présente des lignes uniformes, interrompues par de petits nœuds qui ressemblent à des yeux. La couleur est brun jaunâtre avec des stries dramatiques brun foncé à presque noires, bien qu'elle ait tendance à s'assombrir avec le temps. Le motif du grain peut être très frappant, et le bois est apprécié pour ses contrastes. Il est lourd et résistant.

RECOMMANDATIONS : Il est facile à travailler et réagit bien au collage ; il se polit bien pour donner une bonne finition. Il est très résistant aux insectes.

SÉCHAGE : Le processus de séchage est lent et délicat, en particulier dans le cas des pièces enchevêtrées ou contre-maillées.

UTILISATIONS : Il est utilisé non seulement pour les Touches de divers instruments, mais aussi pour la Table d'harmonie, la Tête et le Chevalet des Guitares Classiques et Acoustiques.

  • Origin: South America
  • Density: 600 kg/m3
  • Description: Monkey pod is a wood of golden to dark brown colors, sometimes, although it is not common, we can find pieces with dark streaks. The grain is straight, wavy with a medium to fine texture and open pores. It is an easy wood to work, with respect to drying all precautions should be taken to prevent the wood from cracking or warping.
    The Monkey pod or Sama is a wood very used in Ukuleles and Guitars, the tone is similar to the Mahogany with brighter shades that this one, also it can be compared with the sound that provides the black walnut.
    The appearance of an instrument finished with Monkeypod wood is spectacular, this wood is predestined to be one of the favorites of our luthiers.
