European Curly Maple is, in our opinion, one of the tonewoods with the greatest potential for acoustic guitar building. Regularly used by high-end builders such as Santa Cruz and Bourgeois, and found in iconic models like the Gibson SJ-200, it is highly sought after for both its acoustic qualities and its striking appearance. Experts highlight its bright tone, fast attack and immediate response to touch — with a more luminous character than mahogany.

Acer pseudoplatanus is a light-coloured wood with golden reflections that deepen as it oxidises. With virtually no open grain, it often eliminates the need for a grain filler. Despite its hardness, it works easily with sharp tools and can achieve a brilliant, attractive finish with a scraper or plane alone, without sandpaper.
