The Lynx Shaped Scraper Set brings together the four most useful profiles for finishing in lutherie and fine woodworking in a single pack. Made by Thomas Flinn & Co under their Lynx brand, these scrapers are manufactured from saw steel — the same material as saw blades — at a thickness of 0.032" (0.81mm) that combines stiffness and controlled flexibility for precise finishing.

Each profile solves a different type of surface. The concave/convex scraper handles both inside and outside curves, and is particularly useful in curved areas of the instrument such as bridge contouring. The gooseneck reaches tightly curved areas where a straight scraper cannot work comfortably. The double curved scraper is designed for surfaces with variable geometry. The 5"×2½" rectangular scraper is the go-to for flat surfaces: tops, backs, binding and any area requiring a clean, even finish. Supplied ready to use and can be resharpened with a burnisher when needed.

In classical stringed instrument lutherie, the scraper is the traditional tool for final wood finishing — more precise than sandpaper on complex grain areas, and capable of leaving perfectly smooth surfaces without abrasives. Having the right profile for each area is what makes the difference between a correct finish and an excellent one.
