Overview Brass Knob Insert for custom knobs:

Make your own knob from a leftover piece of wood and the Brass Knob Insert for custom knobs to create the perfect combination with your guitar's design. The dimensions of the brass socket are 10x8,2 mm. The inner diameter is 6.5mm with an adjustment screw, so it will fit a 6.35mm (¼ inch) potentiometer, the standard size. The set screw is 3 mm in diameter and is located at 4.2 mm from the bottom.

You can easily turn your own knobs, even if you don't have a lathe. Use a 10mm drill bit and a bench drill to bore a hole in the center of a piece of wood. After drilling, place the button back on the drill bit. The blades of the drill will hold the knob in place without it popping off. Turn the drill press on at high speed and use a rasp or sandpaper on a block to shape the knob. It is best to hold the rasp or sandpaper at a fixed distance, getting closer to the knob each time. This will result in a perfectly round shape. Working freehand may not often yield the same result.

After turning the knob, drill a 3.2 mm diameter hole at a distance of 4.2 mm from the base. This hole will hold the adjusting screw.

Of course, if you have a CNC, you can skip this process and start building dozens or hundreds of buttons in one run! And you don't have to limit yourself to wood either. Use epoxy, or any other material you can think of that fits your needs. The only limit is your imagination!
