  • Aproximate measurements: (500/550x170/200x7 mm)x2
  • Botanical name: Acer pseudoplatanus
  • Origin: North America
  • Density: 630-700 kg/m3
  • The Spalted Maple Drop Top for Electric Guitar and Bass is a very good option for those who want to beautify their Guitar Body with a medium thickness (7 mm). When we talk about the Drop Tops we talk about the little sister of the Carved, its function is very similar if not the same, the only difference is that the thickness of the Drop Tops is lower than the Carved one, which makes them cheaper. Their thickness also makes them lighter and moldable. On the other hand, it allows an easier cut than thicker Tops, reducing the weight of the instrument and of course the cost, having at the end a great guitar.

Spalted Maple is a light yellow-white wood covered with blackish streaks and gray spots whose density is 610–680 Kg / m3. The part of the sapwood does not differ from the heartwood, it is recommended to dry it in a chamber with low temperatures, if the drying is done very quickly the wood retains its white hue, on the contrary, if it is done slowly it acquires a slightly brown hue. It has a smooth and uniform texture. It is a medium density wood, but caution should be taken when working on it, it is also a difficult wood to determine its sound because it depends a lot on the influence of the fungus on each tree.

Spalted Maple is the consequence of the effects of fungi on maple wood, this causes these very special visual and physical characteristics.
